Mandatory Reporting for Counties on Opioid Litigation Settlement Submitted to JCF and DOJ on May 1

May 1, 2024

The 71 counties and 16 municipalities participating in the settlements with the various defendants in the opioid litigation were required under Wis. Stat. sec. 165.12(4)(c) to submit a report of receipts and expenditures annually by May 1.

Please note that the required statutory reports were submitted to the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance and the Department of Justice by the statutory May 1 deadline.

The goal of the form was simple – provide enhanced transparency to encourage counties to share successes and challenges with all stakeholders. For ease of reference, the forms have been put in a central repository.

BACKGROUND
The WCA Board of Directors’ Task Force on Opioid Abatement Strategies asked that the reporting form be modified for this year’s reporting (and future years) to provide additional information surrounding county efforts directed toward abating the opioid epidemic. With input from the Task Force and attendees at the March 20, 2024 Opioid Abatement Summit, WCA and legal counsel prepared an updated version of the reporting form, which can be accessed here
